Yes indeed, friends! We have been so hard at work on this new production that our blog and website have been left woefully unattended. But here it is: we present to you our new project “The Star: A Nativity Story” November 30th and December 1st at Gordon College in Wenham, MA.
We are collaborating with Gordon College and Mattson Visual Design to bring you a reimagining of the greatest story ever told. “The Star” is part of Christmas at Gordon this year. Gordon College has been interested in adding a living nativity element to their Christmas celebrations, and we are so psyched to be able to bring our style of work to a new and larger audience. Immersive theatre offers an experience unlike any other: you are able to be inside of a story, you are a part of it. We aren’t just telling a story, we are living it.
In this show we follow the story of Nasirah, a chronically ill woman who is part of a nomadic tribe living in first century Judea, west of the Dead Sea. She is unmarried and alone, and relies on her tribe to care for her as she is physically unable to contribute much to the community. Nasirah has lived her life on the fringe: an outsider looking in on the lives of her people. She wonders why the gods have spared her life yet given her so much suffering to bear. Then her tribe entertains strange guests from the East, and for the first time someone really takes notice of her. She must decide whether to take on this new offering and allow it to alter her life forever.
So, you want to know what happens? Come see and live it for yourself! With fourteen shows over two nights (yes, FOURTEEN!), you have plenty of opportunity to experience this celebration of hope and the transformative power of believing in something greater than yourself.
And did we mention… this entire event is FREE? How great is that? Family-friendly and accessible, we want YOU! So bring the family, bring your friends, or come by yourself. All are welcome. The entire Christmas at Gordon event also features a tree lighting, caroling and performances by other local artists, kids crafts, s’mores and hot cocoa, a wreath-making tent, horse-drawn carriages, and more! Don’t miss this one, guys.
And most importantly:
No matter how or if you celebrate, no matter your age or ability or walk of life: this show is for you. Come be a part of Nasirah’s story. She is waiting for you.
